Here’s “fashion” defined.

fash·ion

/ˈfaSHən/

noun

  1. a popular trend, especially in styles of dress and ornament or manners of behavior.

Now “style.”

style

/stīl/

Noun

  1. a distinctive appearance, typically determined by the principles according to which something is designed.

With our annual “fall fashion” issue, we decided to take a different approach, scrapping Vogue’s September issue precedent and using the pillar of style as our inspiration — not fashion.

At our styled shoot at the restored 19th-century ghost town and mineral hot springs known as Dunton Hot Springs, we highlighted well-crafted looks from Cedar & Hyde Mercantile that are guided by principals of design.

We also followed the Cedar & Hyde crew back east where we dove deeper into style, tagging along as tourists to see the manner in which owner Poss Lambert selects her distinguished pieces to bring back home.

With it finally being October — the flagship fall month — we didn’t leave out any of the trickery and treats (and some pumpkin flavored goodness) that you’d also expect.

With style and grace,
