The Joseph Family Foundation 
and Tempus Jets Present Urban Nights Denver

The fifth annual Urban Nights Denver prepares to celebrate its fifth year at Mile High Station on Saturday, August 5th. The city’s largest outdoor urban fashion show and fundraiser will benefit at-risk youth with the theme: Threads of Promise.

This year’s charity partners include Urban Peak, The Danny Dietz Foundation and La Academia at The Denver Inner City Parish. All with the shared vision of providing critical services to the at-risk youth that each organization serves.

This year’s fashion show, designed and produced by Jenny Baker-Strasburg and Tobie Orr, will feature works from the Art Institute of Colorado and Suit Supply. The fashion show will be anchored by NYFW darling, Nicholas K, “Built from Scratch” Fall/Winter 2017.

In addition to delivering another fashion spectacle, this year’s event will feature 90s rap and fashion icons, Salt-N-Pepa!

The event will be held at Mile High Station — under the canopy of the Colfax Avenue viaduct —with The VIP party commencing at 6:00 pm, general admission opens at 7:00 pm and the program begins at 7:30 pm. Salt-N-Pepa hit the stage at 9. UrbanNightsDenver.org

A Taste of Colorado Announces 
2017 Festival Dates

A Taste of Colorado is a four-day, free admission festival produced by the Downtown Denver Partnership. The event takes place over Labor Day Weekend in Downtown Denver’s Civic Center Park. More than 500,000 visitors will celebrate Labor Day Weekend at the region’s largest free music festival while enjoying cuisine from over 50 restaurants and food establishments, diverse musical acts performing on six stages, and shopping at nearly 300 different artisan booths. A Taste of Colorado is the ultimate end-of- summer opportunity for residents and visitors to experience the sounds, tastes, and sights of Colorado’s diverse cultural traditions and Western heritage. This year the festival will take place September 1st-September 4th at Civic Center Park. Admission is free, and food and beverage tickets will be sold separately. Dumb Friends League Event 
is the ‘Cat’s Meow’

Celebrate our feline friends and help cats and kittens find forever homes at the 9th annual CatFest. This fun-filled event takes place on Saturday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dumb Friends League Quebec Street Shelter in Denver. Cat lovers of all ages will have the chance to meet dozens of adoptable cats and kittens, enjoy clicker-training demonstrations, photo booths, and activities for kids, get expert advice from pet behavior and veterinary experts, sample delicious eats from local food trucks and find unique cat-inspired items at the “Meow Market.” The Dumb Friends League has set a goal of 175 cat adoptions the week leading up to CatFest, July 3–9 (closed July 4), and will be offering waived adoption fees for adult cats (1 year and older).

All cat adoptions from the Dumb Friends League include a spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip implant and a free follow-up office visit with a participating veterinarian. Art on Film Summer 
Series on Santa Fe

The Art District on Santa Fe, Denver’s most established and premier art district, has long been a leader of the city’s thriving art scene. As one of Colorado’s Certified Creative Districts, it features more than 100 art galleries, studios and creative businesses – and this summer, it will add an outdoor film series to its jam-packed calendar of cultural events.

The Art On Film Summer Series will take place on the third Thursday of each month (June 15 – September 21) from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., in the parking lot at the Center for Visual Art (CVA) – Metropolitan State University of Denver at 965 Santa Fe Drive. Each installment of the series will include the outdoor screening of a critically acclaimed feature film, food for purchase, and live music.
The art films highlighted this summer be accompanied by food trucks, live music, art installations and civic engagement opportunities to ensure that there is something for everyone.
On July 20, the series will feature A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014) and musical guest Men In Burka. On August 17, ADSF will feature LA LA Land (2016) and Workout Palace, and September 21 will feature the film Network (1976).
