Challenge Accepted

This Mother’s Day holds a special place in my heart as my husband and I are expecting our first child this year! While I am thrilled to embark upon this next chapter of our lives, I also find myself evaluating how to balance both my career and motherhood. Not surprisingly, I quickly turned to my mom for her advice on the topic. After raising my brother, sister and I while working full time as a teacher and still managing to cook dinner most nights of the week…I figured she might know a thing or two about all of this! She told me motherhood is one of the most challenging and rewarding things she has ever done. From my perspective, I always felt unconditional love and support from both my working parents; something I hope my child will also feel. After seemingly endless hours of evaluating my new future and taking my mother’s words to heart, I can finally (and proudly) say, “challenge accepted!”

On to entrepreneurs and moms who do it all, enter the wonderful Heidi Kidd. Heidi handcrafts unique jewelry with natural gemstones, all inspired by her four-year-old daughter, Emerson. Next, there’s Amy Dickerson. Amy owns Live Love Lash and pursues her passion for health and beauty in Cherry Creek North. Her humble team of one now boasts a glam squad of 20. These women are just two of the many amazing local business owners and entrepreneurs sharing their wisdom in this month’s issue.

Female entrepreneurs thrive in the Denver job market, and the women mentioned above are leading the way while showing others it’s possible to create successful businesses doing what you love. These stories are laid out in this month’s issue and demonstrate the value inherent in great networking, great mentors and great women supporting one another while making their mark in the world!

Happy Mother’s Day!
