Designs by Sundown Adds Furniture and Decor to Create Outdoor Sanctuaries.

With longer hours of daylight and temperatures starting to warm up, patio season is nearly upon us. Whether sipping a chardonnay in the afternoon sun while listening to a cascading water feature or enjoying the glow of a fire while dining with friends, today’s home patios are much more than a place to keep the grill. They have become an extension of the home and an ideal place for entertaining.

Homeowners put so much thought and effort into decorating an indoor living room or dining room, with furniture style and placement setting the flow and balance of each space. So why not take this same approach to changing a patio in a sophisticated outdoor living room? Designs by Sundown, one of the area’s premier landscape architecture, construction and maintenance firms, recently opened a new outdoor furniture and décor department with this precise idea in mind. Their expertise in high-end residential landscape projects has now become a one-stop destination for outdoor living.

Jessica Hommel, the marketing manager, says custom outdoor furniture can sometimes take six months to arrive after it is ordered, and this defining element for outdoor living should be seamless for customers. Hommel says Designs by Sundown has been adding livable square footage outside client homes since her father Michael started the company more than 30 years ago—now with more than 200 employees—and the addition of furniture and decor brings a finishing touch to their line of service.

“It’s a natural extension for our high-end clients since it allows them to begin enjoying the new space right away without any delay or hassle,” said Hommel. “It has been really well-received so far.”

Patio furniture should match the overall style and personality of the landscape design as well as the home itself. Furniture options include a wide variety of materials such as cast aluminum, all-weather wicker, natural teak or brushed stainless steel among others.
