Here’s the thing about Colorado. There’s endless beauty behind every peak and roughly four different types of scenery around this large state making it the ideal wedding destination. We have a little taste of everything. Aspens you say? We got it. Desert? Just head down south. So when Coloradans decides to branch outside of this picturesque state, there’s one place that can’t compete.
Down in Mexico.
That’s where Bre & Paul Morris decided to say, “I do.” To be more specific, San José del Cabo.
“WE CHOSE MEXICO AFTER REALIZING WHAT REALLY MATTERED TO US: SPENDING TIME AND CELEBRATING WITH THE PEOPLE THAT WE ARE CLOSEST WITH IN MORE THAN JUST ONE CRAZY WEDDING DAY,” SAYS BRE.
Bre & Paul’s friends and family, hailing mostly from Colorado and Montana, made there way to the Baja coast. With two professional local photographer in tow, Kelsey Huffer of Poppies + Paisley Photography and Ali Vagnini of Alison Vagnini Weddings, the weekend was captured through the lenses of two different viewpoints expressing the same story. A lot of love.
The Welcome Dinner
The host for the weekend was the sophisticated, all-villa resort, Cabo Azul Resorts (by Diamond Resorts). From the first arrival there was world-class services paired with an all-white, natural stone building with chic décor. And with any festivity, Cabo Azul knows the best way to get a party started is with food and drinks.
The wedding celebration was set off with a bang at Javier’s Restaurant. The landlocked state of Colorado got a taste of Mexican cuisine and fresh seafood. Squid, scallops and shrimp were all artfully arranged on skewers and paired with jalapeno-cucumber margaritas. The beverages set off hilarious and heartfelt toasts from the wedding party. One after the other party goers and guests cheered to the soon-to-be newlyweds. The night wrapped up with a “¡Salud!”
In appropriate Colorado fashion the wedding was held at the beautiful organic farm known as Huerta Los Tamarindos. Dating back to the 19th century and just a stone’s throw away from the Sea of Cortez, the historic hacienda includes an event space decorated with natural elements. The foyer is draped with grapes and greenery, banana trees and palms stand tall around the event space, and mature mango trees greet guests.
“We loved that mexico is not nearly as strict as the US and we were able to create our dream wedding. The owner of Los Tamarindo (Enrique) let us dance the night away until 3am. He said there was no limit to enjoying our wedding day at the farm and we could take over and dance until the sun came up if we wanted! We were actually cutting it close!” Says Bre.
“From the unforgettable host hotel – Cabo Azul – with infinity pools, perfectly decorated rooms, beach views, delicious food & drink, to the day we spent foraging for flowers in the Cabo desert and shopping for local Mexican pottery, to the hilarious and heartfelt toasts at the welcome party, to the pounds of tortilla chips and guacamole we consumed, to the sun setting at the perfect moment during the wedding ceremony, to the beautiful dinner reception under the mango tree, to the absolutely unforgettable dance party…. there were so many highlights and memories we’ll cherish forever,” says event planner and friend Jolene Peterson.
Reflecting back on such an amazing and love-filled weekend Bre had one last thing to mention.
“I truly mean it when I say it was the best day of my life and I want to relive the day over and over and over again!”
What more could you ask for.
