The Thunderbird Imperial Lounge Opens to the Public

After just 120 days of reinvention and renovation, the Thunderbird partners are excited to debut the new space in the revered Subway Tavern location, and in an effort to support their new staff and neighbors alike during the busy holiday season, the restaurant will open serving a concentrated menu featuring most, but not all, of the restaurant’s planned offerings.  “We’re going to continue with the development of the food and cocktail menus over time,” Morreale said, “and we intend for it to be a collaborative effort with our neighbors and regulars.  We’ll be talking with people about what other offerings they’d like to see on our menus, what hours they’d like to have available, etc; but right now it’s most important to put our staff to work before the holidays and get the restaurant open for the neighbors.”

Offering affordable and traditional — yet elevated — comfort food, the menu was creatively designed with a nod to decades past, and will soon also feature fan favorites from other Morreale ventures.  “Appetizers for Destruction” include “Sympathy for the Devil’ed Eggs,” “Styx” Mozzarella sticks served with warm marinara, Pork Collar Skewers, and “Stadium Nachos Piled a Mile High.”  Morreale and Sorensen will also offer patrons “The Thunderburger” – a build your own adventure served on a bun from Northwest Denver’s Hinman’s Bakery, four styles of Wings (Buffalo, Spicy Asian, Chipotle Ranch and Cajun Dry Rub), Classic Sloppy Joes, Botifarra Hot and Chili Cheese Dogs, a “Sunnyside Veggie Melt,” and more. The Thunderbird Imperial Lounge menu has something for everyone, and while high quality and fresh, the menu is aimed at affordability, with most items priced between $4 – $12 (with the exception of a dozen wings for $18).

Happy Hour is all day every day at The Thunderbird, with canned beer costing guests just $3 – $4, and well drinks only $4.50. In addition, the “Blue-Collar Cocktails” menu features unpretentious and classic adult beverages, harkening back to a time before mixology got complicated and fancy.  The Rusty Nail, Whiskey Sour, Manhattan, Boxcar, and Black Russian are just a few examples of what customers can expect to find.
