LOW Country Kitchen Opening Soon!

Native Southerners and longtime Steamboat residents, Katy and Brian Vaughn, are coming down the mountain to open another location of LOW, their Southern concept, in the former Vita space in the bustling LoHi Neighborhood. To make time to expand LOW, Chef Brian Vaughn recently closed fine dining restaurant bistro c.v., capping off nearly a decade of service by cooking at the James Beard House in Manhattan in May of this year. The Vaughn family plans to divide their time between Steamboat and Denver.

Before opening, the space will undergo significant renovations over the course of the next three months and will be helmed by Katy Vaughn, MAA, Mike Blea and Breton Lujan of Raw Creative. To tide the neighborhood over before opening, two visual art installations have been planned. Guests can expect bar, dining room, roof top and porch front seating for dinner and weekend brunch.

Experience The Oxford Hotel Dolls’ Tea Party

Enjoy one of Denver’s favorite family holiday traditions this December with The Oxford Hotel Dolls’ Tea Party on Sunday, December 4th at LoDo’s most historic boutique hotel. The Oxford Dolls’ Tea Party is a classic tea party, with hot cocoa for children, tea for adults and a light snack of sandwiches and assorted treats. Children are encouraged to bring their favorite doll along to enjoy the festivities. The highlight of the Dolls’ Tea Party is a whimsical ballet performance by the Arvada Dance Center designed especially for the children, who have an opportunity to meet the ballerinas and take photos with them.

The entire family is then invited to gather to take family photos in The Oxford’s lobby, which will be decked out with gorgeous holiday decorations. In celebration of the holiday season, The Oxford will be accepting new, unwrapped toy donations for Mile High Montessori, which provides early childhood education for low-income children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

Dress for Success Denver Hosts Second Annual Winter Fashion Gala

As of August 2016, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports Denver’s unemployment rate is 3.3 percent, that’s about 50,540 people in the metro area alone who are in need of a job. That is, in part, why Dress for Success Denver (DfSD), a nonprofit that helps at-risk, underserved women seeking jobs and job retention, is hosting its second annual Winter Fashion Gala on Friday, November 4th . The event will celebrate the more than 10,000 women the organization has served in its 10 years in business and raise funds for its programs, which includes job training, mentorship and other professional development services.

Guests will be able to sip cocktails, taste hors d’oeuvres, participate in a silent auction, listen to live music and experience a spirits tasting room. DfSD Executive Director Pep Torres will share information about the organization’s history, programs and services and guests will hear success stories from women alumni.
