Denver to Winter Park Ski Train Returning for 2016–17

After a seven-year hiatus, the ski train will operate from Denver Union Station to a new platform at Winter Park Ski Resort during ski season. The ski train previously ran from 1940 to 2009. It was discontinued in 2009 when it became too costly for a private operator to run. Amtrak is partnering with Winter Park to bring the train back. The Colorado Transportation Commission this week announced a $1.5 million grant to help build an ADA-compliant boarding platform and rail improvements at the ski area a few yards from the West Portal of the Moffat Tunnel. CDOT was also studying the 2015 train ride to see if it would reduce traffic on the mountain corridor. CDOT said last winter that a ski train could take 450 to 500 vehicles off the I-70 corridor during peak traffic times during ski season. WinterParkResort.com

Westin Denver International Airport Hotel Unlocks a New Way to Stay with Starwood Preferred Guest’s Next Generation of SPG Keyless

The Westin Denver International Airport has joined a groundbreaking turning point in the hotel experience with the launch of SPG Keyless. SPG Keyless is the industry’s first truly mobile and keyless entry system that allows guests to use their smart phone as a key to their hotel room doors. All they need is an SPG account and the SPG app. In this updated product being launched by Westin Denver International Airport, SPG is also expanding mobile check-in capabilities on the SPG app.

“We are excited to be among the first of the next generation of Starwood brand hotels to offer the convenience and flexibility of SPG Keyless to our guests,” said Tom Curley, general manager of The Westin Denver International Airport.  “It seems only fitting that this world-class hotel also leads the trend among hotels to provide this world-class service and technology to its busy, tech-savvy travelers.” WestinDenverAirport.com
