HiBar: The Rooftop Oasis at Jax Fish House

HiBar, on the rooftop above Jax Fish House in Glendale, opened on Thursday, May 21 at 4 p.m. Guests enjoyed their favorite beers, wines and refreshing cocktails alongside delicious bites from the raw bar. This urban oasis is the perfect place to meet up with friends old and new under the glorious Colorado sunshine. High above City Set, HiBar offers spectacular views of the Denver skyline and the distant Rocky Mountains, and is the perfect place to take in a sunset or watch the shimmering city lights of Cherry Creek from afar. Behind the bar, the Jax crew created crush-able ice-cold beverages like Hemingway Daiquiris, Bangkok Fizzes, and blended Piña Coladas, while expert shuckers shucked an awesome selection of West Coast and East Coast Oysters that are flown in daily, as well as King Crab, Snow Crab, Lobster, Peel n’ Eat Shrimp, Mussels, Fruits de Mer, Pokes and Ceviches. Now open, be sure to stop by Jax this summer for some sunshine, cocktails and oysters!

ART Hotel Finally Open

Denver’s most anticipated luxury hotel–The ART Hotel–opens on June 16. In a city that’s buzzing for its artistic and culinary revolution, the ART Hotel is an integral part of Denver’s cultural boom. The hotel itself holds one of the most exciting and prestigious art collections in any U.S. hotel. All original artwork is weaved throughout the entire guest experience from masters like Ed Ruscha, Tracey Emin, Larry Bell, Sol LeWitt, including a permanent 22,000 LED light installation by Leo Vireall and more.

Bursting with multi-sensory installations, in-house curator Dianne Vanderlip has assembled a powerhouse collection of post WWII modern masters. The lobby, elevators and common areas all boast cutting-edge artworks, while each guest room floor will be inspired by an individual artist, whose original artwork will be on each floor stylistically translated throughout each room and suite.

Kobe An Shabu Shabu–the LoHi eatery that specializes in shabu shabu (Japanese hot pots)–unveiled a new sushi and nigiri menu last week. While there is enough sushi in Denver to last a lifetime, the owners of Kobe An Shabu Shabu are working to make their list stand out as much as the shabu shabu. While shabu shabu could become next trend in Asian cuisine, chef Marco Trujillo’s new sushi menu lifts this popular branch of Japanese cuisine beyond trend to something closer to an art form. The new list incorporates equal parts audacious combinations and simple presentations that place the fish on the forefront, featuring rare delicacies that shine in their minimalism. If Loeffler’s Kobe An, which reopened earlier this year in Cherry Creek represents the best of the old school, Kobe An Shabu Shabu the shiny and modern version of classic.
